The Brooklyn Museum School Service units are themed kits created for teachers, or for docents of the museum to present to schools. Each kits comprised of a large briefcase, and several posters on themes like New York history, Arctic life, etc. Herbert Spinden developed these kits as the director of the Education department.

Specifically, offensive stereotypes are depicted in the Brooklyn Museum School Service Units from 1934, and are often racist in describing nonwhite peoples.
