Brooklyn Academy of Music

The Brooklyn Academy of Music was founded in ____. It was separate from BIAS until 1941, when facing bankruptcy, BAM was acquired by BIAS. However, BAM and BIAS had a long working relationship before this time. BAM hosted musical events and concerts produced by BIAS, and in 1908 the Institute programs and administrative offices were moved into the new BAM building on Lafayette Avenue. Programs of BIAS - like the photography classes, and the art or "extension" school - were held at BAM. Meetings of various departments were also held at BAM. In the 1950s the Department of Education was modified to be known only as associated with BAM. Educational efforts, in terms of marketing for events, was conducted by BAM from the 1950s onward.
