Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Exhibition titles are written with the full name of the exhibit followed by the dates the exhibit was open to the public in brackets. For example: Basquiat [03/11/2005-06/05/2005]. Dates of materials in the folder will span beyond the run of the exhibit and signify their creation date.

Curatorial Assistants and Associates often contribute to other department's exhibitions and at times report to multiple departments. For example, Indira Abiskaroon Valbuena was the Contemporary and Modern Art Curatorial Assistant, but she contributed to the Thierry Mugler exhibit. Those files live here and show a wide collaboration and scope of curatorial repsonsibilities.

This series contains checklists, research, didactics, object labels, internal and external correpsondence, floorplans, slides, photographs, ephemera, press, and some programming information. Information collected varies from exhibition to exhibition. There is also a small amount of material related to proposed exhibitions and cancelled exhibitions.

From the Series:

Processing Information

From the Series:

The Contemporary Art Department was formally seperated from European and American Art in 2003. A small amount of material from before 2003 was kept by curatorial staff, largely as reference or for historical purposes. Instead of being strict with the 2003 date, the archivist decided to keep original order as much as possible by allowing for overlap of records.
