A/V Department and Film Programming, 1972-2011
Scope and Contents
The Adult Programming and Public Programming Series consists of records related to various public programs organized by the Brooklyn Museum Education Department, including Museum exhibition-focused programming, First Saturdays, music and film festivals, and many more. The series is divided into multiple sub-series, which are arranged chronologically, each reflecting different types of programming and administrative activities undertaken by the institution. Additionally, there is a small amount of files dedicated to potential performers for public programming. These files include newspaper clippings, cds, and other related marketing materials for bands, musicians, dancers, and other performers. There is a small amount of overlap with the Community Services department as well, as there were files for the Technical Assistance Seminars found in Adult Programming.
Beginning in 2017, the Adult Programs Department was renamed as the Public Programs Department. While still under the Learning and Social Impact Division, the Public Programs department has some autonomy.
