Biographical / Historical
The Brooklyn Arts and Culture Association (BACA) was founded in 1966 by Brooklyn citizens. Starting in 1974, BACA was put in charge of NYS grant funding for Brooklyn that they used to sponsor arts and cultural events throughout the borough. For example, BACA sponsored the Brooklyn Museum's exhibit series Salute to Brooklyn Creative Youth. BACA still functions in 2024, at the time of writing, and is known as the Brooklyn Arts Council.
